How does the AI understand my document?

When you open ArenaDocs, it automatically reads your document's content and creates a searchable representation. This happens in seconds and enables features like citations and context-aware editing.


What's the difference between Chat Mode and Edit Mode?

How do citations work?

When the AI references your document, it includes clickable citations. These:

  • Navigate you to that section in Word when clicked
  • Show exactly where the information came from
  • Help you verify AI responses

What does "source attribution" mean in drafting?

When ArenaDocs generates clauses, it shows which of your templates influenced the language. This helps you:

  • Understand the basis for generated content
  • Maintain consistency with organizational standards
  • Know whether language came from your templates or was newly drafted

Can I use ArenaDocs offline?

No, ArenaDocs requires an internet connection because AI processing happens on our servers. A stable internet connection is required for all features.


What happens to my document when I use ArenaDocs?

Your document content is:

  1. Read by the add-in in your browser/Word
  2. Sent securely to our servers for AI processing
  3. Not stored permanently (processed in memory only)
  4. Never used to train AI models
  5. Isolated from other organizations

How accurate is the AI review?

AI review is highly capable but should be considered a "second pair of eyes":

  • Strengths: Catches drafting errors, inconsistencies, missing clauses
  • Limitations: May flag intentional choices, doesn't understand negotiation context
  • Best Practice: Review all suggestions with professional judgment

Think of it as a very capable research assistant, not a replacement for human review.


Can ArenaDocs draft an entire contract?

Yes! Use the "Draft New Document" feature to generate complete documents like:

  • Demand letters
  • Basic agreements

  • Correspondence

For complex contracts, we recommend:

  1. Generate a starting draft
  2. Review and edit sections
  3. Add organization-specific terms
  4. Have legal review before use

How do I add my organization's templates?

  1. Go to the Review tab
  2. Select a document type (e.g., "Vendor Agreement")
  3. Click "Upload Template"
  4. Select your gold-standard .docx file
  5. Wait for processing (clauses are extracted automatically)

Templates improve all AI features by grounding them in your organization's preferred language.


Security & Privacy

Is my document data secure?

Yes. We implement multiple security layers:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data sent over HTTPS/TLS
  • Encryption at Rest: Database encryption
  • Access Control: Organization-based isolation
  • No Permanent Storage: Document content not stored after processing
  • SOC 2 Compliance: Enterprise-grade security practices

Who can see my documents?

Only users in your organization can access your data:

  • Documents and clauses are scoped to your organization
  • Other organizations cannot see your data
  • Our support team has limited access for troubleshooting only
  • No data sharing with third parties

Is data used to train AI models?

No. Your data is never used to train AI models. Your content remains private and confidential.


How long is my data retained?

Technical Questions

What browsers are supported?

Can I use ArenaDocs with SharePoint documents?

Yes, ArenaDocs works with documents opened from:

  • SharePoint Online
  • OneDrive for Business
  • OneDrive Personal
  • Local files

As long as the document is open in Microsoft Word, ArenaDocs can work with it.


Why does the add-in need a popup for login?

Microsoft Office Add-ins have security restrictions that prevent direct login flows. The popup opens in a separate window, handles authentication, and passes the credentials back securely.

Make sure popups are allowed for the Office domain.


Can I use ArenaDocs in multiple documents at once?

Each Word window has its own ArenaDocs session:

  • Context is specific to that document
  • Switching documents requires refreshing context
  • Multiple Word windows = multiple sessions
