This comprehensive guide covers all ArenaDocs features in detail.

Overview

ArenaDocs integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Word to provide AI-powered legal assistance. The interface consists of three main tabs, each designed for specific workflows.

The ArenaDocs panel appears on the right side of your Word window. Use the tabs at the top to switch between features:

Document Context

ArenaDocs automatically reads your current Word document to provide context-aware assistance.


Chat Tab

The Chat tab provides a conversational interface for interacting with your document.

Document Q&A

Ask questions about your document in natural language:

Example Questions:

  • "What are the payment terms in this agreement?"
  • "Summarize the liability provisions"
  • "Who are the parties to this contract?"
  • "What happens if the sponsor defaults?"
  • "Are there any exclusivity provisions?"

Citations

AI responses include clickable citations that link directly to specific sections in your document. Click on any citation to navigate to that section and see the source of the information.

Edit Mode

Edit Mode allows you to make AI-powered changes to selected text.

How to Use Edit Mode

  1. Toggle Edit Mode using the button at the bottom of the chat
  2. Select text in your Word document
  3. Enter instructions describing your desired changes
  4. Review the redline showing additions and deletions
  5. Accept or reject the changes

Redline Preview

The redline preview shows:

  • 🟢 Additions - New text in green
  • 🔴 Deletions - Removed text in red strikethrough
  • 📝 Change Summary - AI explanation of modifications

Accept Options

When accepting changes, you can:

  • Enable Track Changes - Creates revision marks in Word
  • Add Comments - Inserts an explanatory comment

Conversation History

The chat maintains context across messages, allowing follow-up questions:

User: What are the termination provisions?
AI: The agreement includes termination provisions in Section 8...

User: Can these be made more favorable to us?
AI: Based on your organization's templates, here are suggestions...

Draft Tab

The Draft tab helps you create new legal content.

Draft New Clause

Generate professional legal clauses from natural language descriptions.

How It Works

  1. Click "Draft New Clause"
  2. Enter a description of what you need
  3. Optionally specify style or tone preferences
  4. Click "Generate"
  5. Review 4 different options
  6. Select and insert your preferred option

Writing Effective Descriptions

Good Description:

Indemnification clause requiring the vendor to defend and 
hold harmless the club from third-party IP infringement 
claims arising from vendor's deliverables, with standard 
carve-outs for claims arising from club specifications

Better Description:

Strong indemnification provision protecting us from IP 
infringement claims related to vendor work product. Should 
mirror language from our master vendor agreement but add 
explicit coverage for trademark infringement.

Generated Options

Each option shows which of your templates influenced the language, helping you understand the basis for the generated text and maintain consistency with organizational standards.

Draft New Document

Create complete documents from descriptions.

How to Draft a Document

  1. Click "Draft New Document"
  2. Describe the document you need:
    Demand letter to ABC Sponsor for unpaid Q2 sponsorship 
    fees of $50,000. Payment was due June 15th. Reference 
    section 4.2 of our sponsorship agreement. Firm but 
    professional tone.
    
  3. Click "Generate"
  4. Review and edit as needed
  5. Click "Insert" to add to Word

Clause Library

Browse and insert clauses from your organization's library.

Searching the Library

  • Text Search - Find clauses by title or content
  • Semantic Search - Find conceptually similar clauses
  • Filter by Type - Narrow by agreement type

Inserting from Library

  1. Navigate to "Clause Library"
  2. Search or browse for clauses
  3. Click on a clause to preview
  4. Click "Insert" to add to your document

Review Tab

The Review tab provides AI-powered document analysis.

Before running a review, select the appropriate document type:

What the Review Checks

  • Drafting Errors - Grammar, inconsistencies, typos
  • Legal Issues - Missing provisions, weak language
  • Business Risks - Unfavorable terms, exposure areas
  • Compliance - Industry-specific requirements
  • Numerical Accuracy - Matching written and numeric amounts

Review Results

Issues are organized by severity:

Compare Against Template

Compare your document against your organization's gold-standard templates.

How Template Comparison Works

  1. Select the document type
  2. Ensure a template is uploaded for that type
  3. Click "Compare Against Template"
  4. Review identified discrepancies

Understanding Results

The comparison identifies:

  • Missing Provisions - Clauses in template but not in document
  • Weaker Language - Less protective than template
  • Different Approaches - Variations from standard language
  • Additional Content - Provisions not in template

Uploading Templates

  1. Select a document type
  2. Click "Upload Template"
  3. Select a .docx file
  4. Wait for processing (clauses are extracted automatically)

Template Requirements

  • Format: Microsoft Word (.docx) only
  • Size: Maximum 10MB
  • One per type: Each document type has one template slot
  • Replace: Upload new file to replace existing

Best Practices

For Document Review

  1. Select correct document type - Ensures appropriate analysis
  2. Review high-severity first - Address critical issues immediately
  3. Use "Go to Issue" - Navigate precisely to problems
  4. Enable track changes - Maintain audit trail

For Clause Drafting

  1. Be specific - Detailed descriptions yield better results
  2. Reference existing agreements - "Like our ABC contract..."
  3. Review source attribution - Understand the basis for generated text
  4. Generate multiple times - Options vary between generations

For Editing

  1. Select complete sentences - Avoid cutting off mid-thought
  2. Be explicit about intent - "Make more protective of our IP"
  3. Review carefully - AI suggestions require human judgment
  4. Track all changes - Enable for compliance
